This page describes the release notes for Styra DAS delivered in November 2020.
Styra is built on the Open Policy Agent (OPA), a popular and widely deployed open source project developed by the founders of Styra. With primary credibility for the underlying technology, the Styra team and technology are both proven in production across verticals. Styra enables enterprises to define, enforce, validate, and continually monitor security, compliance and operational policies across the cloud-native application stack. Styra has reinvented the authorization solutions to mitigate customer risk, and reinforce commitment to trust and transparency in safeguarding customers’ data. Styra’s Declarative Authorization Service (DAS) is a sophisticated management plane that provides context-based guardrail, built from a graphical policy library to mitigate risk, reduce human error and accelerate development. Styra makes it possible for enterprises to implement policy-as-code controls and to prove their effectiveness to both internal and external security and compliance audiences.

This section describes the new enhancements in Styra DAS 20201117.
- Starting with this release, Styra DAS offers the DAS Free, DAS Pro, and DAS Enterprise editions for you to create a Kubernetes cluster that complies with best practice policies and puts your first rule on the job enforcing a policy.

Validateaction now annotates rule snippets with the number of violations to help you decide which rules to enforce. Rules with no violations are safe to currently enforce without triggering violations and denials.
- Starting with this release, when you execute the
Draftpolicies (if exists) are applied over published policies in the Multi-File Policy Authoring (MFPA) for Custom systems.
This section describes the issues fixed in Styra DAS 20201117.
Alloweddecision on the
Decisionstab in the Styra DAS GUI was converted into
Adviceon a log replay action without any changes to the underlying policy. The change introduced support for a field
decision_typein the outcome of each decision that prioritized the declared field to classify a decision. In its absence, they will fallback for the old behavior for backwards compatibility.
Fixed the display of
Forbiddenerrors by using
System Viewerroles to validate policies on the Styra DAS GUI.
