Overview of DAS Custom System

The DAS Custom system-type is used when other system-types fail to meet your requirements. It helps you manage any other real-world system that has been integrated with OPA. For example, you can govern public cloud resource configuration through Terraform; control who can SSH into a Linux server; or dictate the readers and writers of Kafka topics. Table 1 shows the list of supported features for Custom systems.

For Custom systems, you can configure the DAS so that it understands the decision log format to display and search decisions accurately. For more information on configuring decision logs, see the Decision Log Configuration page.

For more information on how to use Styra, OPA, and Linux Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) to enforce fine-grained, host-level access controls over SSH and Sudo, see the SSH tutorial for a Custom system.
