New Features and Enhancements

This section describes the new features and enhancements in Styra DAS On-premises 0.5.4.

Backend

• Starting with release, the JSON request body is added to User Activity log for DAS configuration changes. The feature flag ACTIVITY_GC_HISTORY is also added to the extend log capture period to four weeks. The online API activity API is also updated in this release.

CLI

• This release provides API/CLI support for mocking http.send and opa.runtime.

Data Sources

• Terraform stacks can now add data sources.

Git

• Git data source plugin will now use the HTTP_PROXY settings from the environment.

• This release introduces the Git test connection feature which tests the Git configuration for systems, stacks, and workspace before saving them.

• Git reference default is now refs/heads/main.

GUI

• This release introduces a new Quick Start landing page or dialog that shows all the currently available Quick Starts.

• Compiled Rego errors are now highlighted in the editor.

• This release allows users to now copy the input of each decision from the decision log.

• Decisions can now be streamed from DAS to a remote S3 bucket.

• The compliance screen can now detect violations for large clusters and stacks. The last result is saved for quicker load times.

• Introduce live filtering of inventory resources using the navigation filter.

• Performance improvements for stack creation and previewing a policy are available in this release.

• Enhance the Quick Start home UI for users to easily view on smaller windows and see the Close button when using light theme.

• Starting with this release, you can edit your data source through the Settings button.

• Policy editor can now autocomplete any system’s JSON data sources.

Policy Bundle

• This release introduces a new API to manually trigger bundle compilation.

Systems

• Starting with this release, Mesh system types: Istio, Kong Mesh, and Kuma are available.

Issues Fixed

This section describes the issues fixed in Styra DAS On-premises 0.5.4.

Git

• Fixed a bug where the Workspace configuration could not be saved because of an erroneous Git conflict.

• System delete behavior was modified to not wipe out the associated Git secret if it is not system-specific.

GUI

• Fixed an issue for incorrect display of data sources or policies that had dots in their names.

• This release introduced a change that restored support to run the compliance validation on user-created monitor policy for Custom systems.

• Fixed a UI crash when navigating to the Deployments tab.

• Fixed an issue where decisions made on systems with coarse-resolution clocks show up as Missing latency. These decisions now accurately show that their latency is less than one millisecond.

Metrics

• Fixed metrics-exporter cleanup routine mistakenly pruning still in-use secrets.

Systems

• Fixed an issue where deleting a system will no longer delete it’s corresponding Git secret, if the secret was not created by Styra DAS.
