New Features and Enhancements

This section describes the new features and enhancements in Styra DAS On-premises 0.6.0.

Backend

• This release significantly increases the speed of policy bundle compilation. Now, a bundle is available in less than a minute after publishing any policy updates.

DAS

• OPA version used in DAS and for systems deployment is updated to 0.37.2.

Data Sources

• Starting with this release, AWS S3, Git Content and HTTP data sources support the XML files.

• This release supports transformation or filtering feature using Rego for all plugins (Git, S3, Kubernetes, and so on) like HTTP or LDAP.

• AWS S3 data source now pulls JSON and YAML files from an S3 bucket and recursively into directories, and loads into DAS.

• The size limit for all data sources types is now enforced. The following default limits are based on DAS edition:

  • DAS FREE: 25MB
  • ENTERPRISE: 100MB

Decisions

• DAS now supports decision latency in timeseries and decisions when using OPA as an embedded Go library.

GUI

• This release allows you to check the status of your data source for successful state or errors it may have encountered.

• The DAS GUI now supports large data sources. If a data source is larger than 1 MB, it is not displayed in the browser and the user is given the option of downloading it.

• DAS now supports exporting decisions and user activity to Azure Blob Storage.

• Kubernetes policy rule snippets now has a new filter button, which moved filter items from the previous ... menu to the new filter menu.

• Policy library rule snippets now supports the same autocomplete functionality as the policy editor.

• This release disables automatic analytics collection in the Styra DAS GUI.

Systems

• Starting with this release, all system types are set to use the latest OPA and SLP versions known to DAS.

• By default, OPA containers run as root. Starting with this release, the install instructions use rootless OPA images.
