This page describes the release notes for Styra DAS delivered in March 2021.

Release Summary​

Styra is built on the Open Policy Agent (OPA), a popular and widely deployed open source project developed by the founders of Styra. With primary credibility for the underlying technology, the Styra team and technology are both proven in production across verticals. Styra enables enterprises to define, enforce, validate, and continually monitor security, compliance and operational policies across the cloud-native application stack. Styra has reinvented the authorization solutions to mitigate customer risk, and reinforce commitment to trust and transparency in safeguarding customers’ data. Styra’s Declarative Authorization Service (DAS) is a sophisticated management plane that provides context-based guardrail, built from a graphical policy library to mitigate risk, reduce human error and accelerate development. Styra makes it possible for enterprises to implement policy-as-code controls and to prove their effectiveness to both internal and external security and compliance audiences.

New Features and Enhancements​

GUI​

  • This release modifies the scroll bars to overlay the Styra DAS GUI.

Systems​

  • Starting with this release, a pre-built Kubernetes rule is added. This rule ensures that Pods within a Deployment, StatefulSet, or other resources have required labels.

New Features and Enhancements​

This section describes the new enhancements in Styra DAS 20210316.

GUI​

  • The deployment environment parameters such as HTTPS proxy and trusted certificate authority for a Kubernetes systems are moved from Settings >> General dialog to Settings >> Install >> Edit deployment environment dialog. This dialog has a warning message Requires re-installation because the deployment environment parameters are highly coupled with install instructions.

  • This release adds support for Git authentication through SSH keys. SSH authentication can now be configured for Git repositories hosted on Git providers that support this authentication method. For example: Github, Bitbucket, and so on.

Stacks​

  • The ability to configure Git repository per stack through the new source_control.stack_origin property is now available. When source_control.stack_origin property is set to true, the stack uses that repository configuration. When source_control.stack_origin property is set to false, the stack inherits the workspace configuration.

Issues Fixed​

This section describes the issues fixed in Styra DAS 20210316.

Systems​

  • Fixed missing deployment_parameters in system settings via API.

  • Restricted system generated tokens to avoid access to all API paths by default.
